BE Change Helps Schools in Bihar Reopen Safely
Women sew masks for Bhavishya Me students at the sewing center, which the school operates for adult women in nearby villages.
BE Change is proud to announce that we’ve helped our partner schools, Bhavishya Me Free Education School and Prema Metta Orphanage School Trust, reopen safely on March 1, 2021! The schools were permitted to reopen after months of closure by following strict guidelines from the Government of Bihar. All students and staff must wear masks, and schools may only operate at 50% capacity. As soon as these guidelines were issued, BE Change provided immediate funding to help schools fulfill the requirements to reopen as soon as possible.
Students arrive at Prema Metta for their first day back at school.
BE Change provided funding for masks and hand sanitizer for both of our partner schools to reopen safely. Bhavishya Me used BE Change funds to create its own masks at the sewing center that it operates for adult women. At Prema Metta, staff purchased additional hand sanitizer for students to use during breakfast and lunchtime, when Prema Metta operates its BE Change-funded meal program. Students at both schools will attend on alternate days, keeping the schools in compliance with capacity guidelines.
This funding means that
over 140 children
can now attend school safely,
We sincerely thank our donors, whose contributions made it possible for us to immediately respond to the need for COVID-relating funding at both of our partner schools.
BE Change believes every child should have access to a good education. We hope you’ll consider donating today to ensure that we can continue to support students at primary schools in rural Bihar.
